Enjoy this spacious 24' diameter yurt located between Monte Cristo and Hardware Ranch. It is tucked in a grove of trees and set up on the hillside, providing you with amazing views all the way around and stunning sunsets. We enjoy lots of wildlife in the area, especially a majestic herd of 5 bull moose who frequent this hillside often. This is the perfect place to get away and enjoy solitude and the great outdoors!
Yurts are magical! It is a unique experience to gather and sleep in a circular space and it most definitely is the best way to make cherished memories with friends and loved ones. Nothing beats eating, talking, and playing games near a crackling fire.
This area is a recreation mecca with miles and miles of national forest trails accessible less than a mile away! Dirt biking, riding ATVs, horse back riding, and hiking are all very popular and very accessible Spring-Fall. In the wintertime this area is one of the best areas to go snowmobiling! Trails and trails and trails. The main trail is groomed all winter long, which is popular for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. We can share some fabulous maps and areas to go check out. There is also a steep mountainside right northeast of the yurt for skiers/boarders, and tubing. You can't beat this location if you love the outdoors, enjoy solitude, and crave backcountry recreation!
In the wintertime the trail is groomed for 6.5 miles with the last half mile not being groomed, but often has plenty of snowmobiling tracks to follow. The trail is very mellow and has less than a 300’ elevation change from start to finish. Snowshoeing to the yurt in the winter is popular as is XC skiing/skinning. On foot you should plan to take ~3 hours if you are an average hiker. We also rent out a Thule Double Chariot to be able pull small kiddos behind you. We’ve had many families make the trek to the yurt and they’ve all loved it! Otherwise, taking snowmobiles to the yurt is about a 15 minute ride over to the yurt. There are rentals at the parking lot or we can provide contact info for off-site rentals that are less expensive.
Furry friends are welcome! A small pet fee will be added after booking.
